The Town of Richmond Hill

Richmond HillRichmond Hill is a city in itself located a 30 minute drive north of downtown Toronto, just north of Thornhill. Early in the twentieth century, several large greenhouse operations were built in Richmond Hill, and rose growing turned the town into the "rose capital" of Canada.

Richmond Hill is part of the "Greater Toronto Area," being located about halfway between Toronto and Lake Simcoe.  It is the third most populous municipality in York Region and in recent years has seen a huge population upsurge, and continues to be one of Canada's fastest growing municipalities. The town's population was over 160,000 in 2006 and is projected to exceed 200,000 by the year 2015.

Despite this extensive growth, Richmond Hill has remained a community with a friendly, down-to-earth flavour and the town's un-official motto is "A little north, a little nicer."  Read a brochure about Richmond Hill here.

Richmond Hill Recreation

The Town also has a total of 5 public swimming pools, including Canada's largest indoor Wave Pool. The town is also home the Richmond Hill Country Club, which features an 18 Hole championship layout at the Richmond Hill Golf Club, and the Bloomington Downs Golf Course.

In 2009, Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts was opened. This 43,000 square foot multi-use cultural facility offers quality entertainments of art and music.
